FOREWORD
Dear visitors
On behalf of the Australian Government, I am honoured to welcome you to the annual Australian Schools Open Day Exhibition 2010 in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
The relationship between Australia and Vietnam is strong and growing, and education is without doubt one of our most valuable and enduring bonds. For Vietnamese parents, education is an important investment in their children’s future and the high quality education services offered by Australian institutions can not only help meet these aspirations but further strengthen the link between our countries.
Australia is renowned for its world class education system, reputable institutions and excellent studying and living environment. As attendees of last year’s event witnessed, Australia is an increasingly popular destination for Vietnamese students with a 20% growth in secondary education enrolments between 2008 and 2009. In fact, there were almost 24,000 enrolments in Australia across all levels of education in 2009, with many of the thousands of graduates of Australian institutions having embarked on successful careers and now occupying senior positions in Government and the business sector in Vietnam.
This year the Australian Government will be hosting its sixth Australian Schools Open Day Exhibition in Vietnam. With representatives from 31 Australian institutions, the exhibition is a unique opportunity for parents and students to meet directly with the institutions’ representatives to gain first-hand information about courses, studying and living costs, application processes and much more.
Interested parents and students will also receive advice on visa requirements from Australian Government officials.
This study-guide provides all the basic necessary information about today’s exhibition, including courses and entry requirements of the participating institutions.
I hope you enjoy the exhibition and make the most out of this opportunity to learn more about study studying in Australia, one of the world’s leading education environments.
